Our Approach

Educating

In partnership with our local organization, Citizen Forum for Health and Education, we work with girls in government/public schools who are in grade 9  and provide stable support throughout their secondary school years.

Empowering

We look beyond individual academic achievement and also focus on developing skills to build confidence, resilience, and cultivate motivation. We design and implement new skills-building. Skills training is open to other students at the school as well.

Building Relationships

Participation of parents in their children’s education leads to a higher quality education for the child. We build relationships with the students’ families to foster understanding and acceptance that education for their daughters is a priority.

Why Choose Us

  • Principals and teachers—who know the students best—select the participants for our program.
  • Our team establishes close, trusting relationships with students, parents, and schools. We conduct home visits to build these relationships and ensure that parents can express hopes for their daughters.
  • Our work respects local traditions and values, creating an environment where students and families can communicate openly with us. This trust is the foundation of everything we do.
  • Donations go directly to Nepal to support our bahinis’ education. All US-based staff members are volunteers.

Investing in Girls' Future

Beyond our Scholars Program, we empower bahinis to make informed and mindful decisions by providing hygiene workshops and educating them about their bodies, reproductive health, and overall well-being.

Increasing Retention Rates

In Nepal, 80% of girls who start primary school drop out by the time they reach grade 11. We are changing this reality—100% of our bahinis are in school. Through financial support, we ensure they have the opportunity to complete their education.

Did you know?

83.3% of girls from grades 9 and 10 miss school during their period due to lack of privacy for cleaning, inadequate disposal systems, and insufficient facilities.
