To educate and empower young women in rural Nepal, enable them to reach their educational and career goals, and guide them to become responsible leaders through mentorship, skills training, and educational support.
A future where every girl has the financial and social support to complete secondary school and university to enable them to become leaders in their communities.
In partnership with our local organization, Citizen Forum for Health and Education, we work with young women in government/public schools who are in grade 9 (the first year of secondary school) and provide stable support throughout their secondary school years (10, 11, and 12) and support them throughout their college years. We work to ensure that bahinis in rural Nepal have the opportunity to pursue higher education and that their financial circumstances are not barriers to attending college and obtaining a degree.
We build relationships with the students’ families to foster understanding and acceptance that education for their daughters is a priority. Participation of parents in their children’s education leads to a higher quality education for the child. Parents and guardians are encouraged and educated through financial & social support and educational materials that promote the importance of investing in their daughter’s education.
where we work
We work in the Parbat district of Nepal. Located west of the capital, Kathmandu, Parbat is a rural district and it takes approximately 12 hours to travel from Kathmandu to Parbat by car/bus. Few nonprofit organizations exist in Parbat, especially nonprofits that focus on education and empowerment for girls.
